“Now that the company’s in trouble, shouldn’t we all work together to fix it?” Cheryl suggested.
Alice asked, “How much of the shares do I have?”
Cheryl did some quick calculations, then glanced at Ruby and Oscar.

“That share’s with your in–laws right now. How much you get depends on their decision.”
Eric wasn’t Oscar’s only son.
So inheritance became a topic.
Clearly, it didn’t quite fit today’s main discussion.
Alice squinted at Cheryl.
She’s smart – dodging the issue and steering the talk straight to inheritance .
“Oh, then I don’t want it.”
She smiled a little.
“I’m not interested in that kind of share.”
Cheryl was surprised. “Why not?”
Irene looked at her, shocked too.
She’d seemed greedy earlier , asking for things as soon as she arrived .

Ruby, who’d been “looking after” Oscar, glanced at Alice after hearing that.
Then she spoke softly, “This isn’t about whether you want it or not. It’s between Oscar and me -you’ll get a portion eventually.”
The meaning was clear: Even if Alice said no, she couldn’t avoid paying her share today.
Alice replied, “Ruby, do you think I’m refusing because I don’t want to deal with the company’s bad press?”
She looked innocent, like a helpless daughter–in–law bullied by a mean mother–in–law with

Ruby was caught off guard, her face awkward.

Alice smiled again.

Ruby’s face instantly darkened.
Sandy ground her teeth. “Alice, watch it!”
Eric’s face turned serious, voice cold.
“She’s your sister–in–law! Apologize to her!”
Sandy thought she was hearing wrong.
“Are you crazy? She just insulted Mom—”
“Apologize.” Eric cut her off firmly.
It wasn’t a request; it was an order.
Sandy, spoiled since birth, refused to bow her head.
She snorted and said no.
“Daniel,” Eric ordered.
“Yes, Mr. Eric?” Daniel was speechless.
He didn’t get what Sandy was thinking. Why is she picking a fight with Mrs. Nolan ?
She’s just asking for trouble .
Eric’s tone was icy. “Throw her out.”
Sandy was shocked. “Eric, are you serious? I’m your family–she’s just an outsider. You’d really offend me for her?”
Eric didn’t answer, but his cold look said it all.
Ruby, of course, wouldn’t let her daughter get bullied and quickly stepped in front of Sandy.

“Daniel, back off!”
Daniel didn’t move. Instead, he said seriously, “Mrs. Rotry, please step aide. Don’t make things harder for me
Ruby usually acted very composed at home.
But now, she lost patience with the fake politeness.
“How dare you!”
Right after she spoke, a group of bodyguards rushed forward.
Daniel didn’t flinch and fought back without mercy.
Several bodyguards fell immediately.
Ruby’s face went gloomy. “Eric, we’re at the old mansion. Do you still consider yourself a Nolan?”
Eric glanced at her, his eyes colder than ever.
“Why is she still here? Daniel, I’m starting to doubt your skills.
Daniel shivered.
Doubt my skills?
Is he trying to get me killed?
Daniel had no choice but to speed up and take down the last bodyguard.
Then he went straight to Sandy, grabbed her shoulder, and dragged her out.
He wore an apologetic smile.
“Sorry, Mr. Eric. I won’t keep you from your meeting. I’ll handle this outside.”
Ruby stepped forward to block him.
Eric spoke softly, “If she wants to stay with her daughter, then let her.”
Ruby felt like her heart was about to burst with anger.
But she had no backup. Everyone else had their own agendas and wouldn’t help.
Irene stayed silent–a clear warning not to cross the line.

Ruby was alone and had to swallow her anger.
So slowly, she stepped aside as Sandy begged with pleading eyes.
Daniel didn’t hesitate and dragged Sandy out.
Soon, Sandy’s screams echoed outside.
Eric showed no reaction.
Alice wasn’t worried.
Daniel was reasonable; he wouldn’t be too harsh with Sandy.
Ruby’s face changed wildly– it turned pale, and then red.
That harsh lesson shut up all the so–called elders in the room.
They couldn’t help but remember the past, back when Eric wasn’t in a coma yet.
