He paused, obviously looking crushed.
“Do you really have to be this cold?”
Alice raised a brow. “You’re just here tossing out talk about killing someone to test me, right?

Alice’s tone stayed steady and indifferent.
She didn’t take it as a deep betrayal.
To her, it was just another normal day.

Venom stepped closer.

Eric appeared out of nowhere and pulled Alice behind him.

“If you have anything to say, Mr. Venom, say it to me. My wife’s unwell today; she shouldn’t be standing around in the wind.”
Venom panicked a little.

Without another word, Venom turned and left.
Alice actually thought he’d keep bothering her.
She didn’t expect him to just leave like that.
She gave Eric’s shoulder a light pat. “Not bad, not bad. Pretty gutsy.”
Eric didn’t know what to say.
What even goes through her head ?
“Oh yeah, Mr. Eric, if Venom shows up again, he’s all yours.
“I seriously can’t deal with clingy guys like him.”
Eric gave a faint smile.
She’s really something . A bit unorthodox , but the good part is, she doesn’t get emotional over nonsense .
A lot of women get swept up by sentiment , but not her .
“Got it.”
Eric smiled again.
“If Venom ever tries to meet with you again, just give me a call, alright?”
Alice nodded. “Sure thing. Come on, let’s go back to the office.”
Eric stopped her.
“The hotels under Nolan Group are handled by the business sector. We need to do a check–up.”
Alice remembered that division was recently reclaimed by Eric.

It made sense that he wanted to inspect it.

Hotels were supposed to offer privacy.
Privacy means they safeguard the guests‘ rights.
And ensure their security.
If the wiring failed or the firewall was weak, guests‘ information could be stolen.
If that happened, not only would they lose credibility, but they would also face lawsuits everywhere.
Alice was speechless.

Eric was confused.
Alice rubbed her temples.
How had she never noticed how irritating he could be?
His aloof persona completely crumbled; he’d turned into a nonstop talker.
He was always explaining every little thing.
It was so annoying.
“Fine, I’ll tag along. Just zip it already.”
Alice gave in and called Daniel to bring the car around.
Eric walked out of the lab with her, and just as they reached the door, Daniel’s car rolled up.
Daniel looked a bit sheepish when he spotted Eric.
The truth was, he’d almost gone into the lab to snoop.
But Byron had caught on and sent him to do something else.
He could’ve said no, but Alice had agreed.
He had to follow her instructions, after all.
He couldn’t make everyone happy.

“Take us to the Global Hotel.”
Daniel sniffed.
That hotel felt like a distant memory now.
The last time he went there was three years ago, when Eric had fallen into a coma, and he was sent to handle the transition.
