“I’m sorry, Alice . I shouldn’t have said hi to Mr. Eric Linda murmured .
“I figured, now that you’re his wife , that makes him kind of like my brother–in–law,
“I didn’t mean anything by it. Please don’t be upset.”

Without even looking back, Alice could tell someone had walked in.
She let out a cold chuckle.
“You’re just hiding behind excuses. Do you honestly buy your own words?”

It was Boston who stepped in.
He was a well–known celebrity, personally picked by Gary to be their brand ambassador.

Lately, he’d been focusing on acting and normally wouldn’t show up to something like a chess tournament.
But as soon as he arrived and saw someone messing with his precious sister, he couldn’t stay quiet.
Linda quickly dropped her head and looked even more pitiful.
Now it looked like Alice was just bullying her for no reason.
“ You owe Linda an apology,” Boston said sternly. “Say sorry now, and we’ll forget this happened. If your don’t, then don’t blame me for stepping in.”
Alice raised an eyebrow. “You don’t even know what went down, and you expect me to say sorry? Aren’t you worried you’ll embarrass yourself?”
Disgust flickered across Boston’s face.
“Me? Embarrassing myself? Linda has the kindest heart. She doesn’t even have to say anything–I know she’d never do anything wrong
That’s when it hit Alice.
She’d always kept her expectations low when it came to the Spencers.
Still, hearing those words from her own brother felt like ice wrapping around her chest.
It hurt more than she thought it would.
She gave a cold smile.

Alice’s face lost a little color, but she stayed calin.

She turned and pushed open the lounge door, walking inside without another word.
Linda’s eyes filled with tears instantly.
“Boston, she’s Mr. Eric’s wife now. You don’t need to fight with her because of me.
“I’ll go talk to her. You two should get along.
“If anything I’ve done ruins your future, I could never forgive myself.”
Boston felt his heart twist seeing her cry like that.
He reached out to gently pat her back and spoke softly.
“Don’t worry. Someone like her doesn’t deserve a place in the Spencers–or to be my sister.
“Even if this was about someone else, I’d still step
“So stop blaming yourself, alright?
“You didn’t do anything wrong. Being a good person isn’t something to be ashamed of. Don’t let the bad ones make you question that.”
Tears streamed down Linda’s face as she nodded. “I just don’t want Nolan Group coming after you because of what I did.”
“In showbiz, money can’t fix everything. And Nolan Group doesn’t have much power here anyway.”
Boston gently wiped away her tears.
He stayed calm and kind , patiently trying to comfort her,
“Don’t stress. I’ve been in this game long enough–I can handle it.”
“Boston, if you’re ever in trouble, promise me you’ll let me know. I don’t want to be the one holding you back, Linda said with a small, worried smile.
Seeing how much his sister cared filled Boston with a rare sense of warmth.
Not far away, Scott had been silently watching everything.
He noticed how direct and honest Alice was.
And he realized how fake Linda could be.
In the past , he only felt sorry for Alice and never truly held Linda responsible.

When she saw how cold his face looked, her heart sank. Had he seen everything?

She clenched her hands tightly, cold sweat forming on her palms.

Before she could finish, Scott turned and walked away without a word.
Her fake smile froze.
Was she imagining things?
Or did he really look at her like she was disgusting?
“Hey, what’s up with Scott?” Boston asked casually .
“Is it about the racing stuff?”
Trying to case the tension, Linda spoke up right away, guilt written all over her face,
“Scott’s been looking for a new engine, but he hasn’t found one that fits. That might be why he’s been on edge lately.”
