Chapter 985
Chapter 987
Shaun had slept beside Halsey last night. Where had he gone?
Halsey sat up and got out of bed before walking out of the room.
“Shaun? Shaun…”
She finally found him in the kitchen, cooking.
It wasn’t the first time she had seen him in the kitchen. Back when they were together, Shaun was always the one who cooked. But even now, every time she saw him like this, she couldn’t help but find him incredibly attractive.
He was wearing a plain white button-down shirt with black slacks, nothing fancy. His soft bangs rested gently on his forehead, and his rolled-up sleeves gave him a casual, youthful look.
Compared to his usual polished appearance as a business elite, he looked even more handsome and laid-back.
Halsey watched him flip an egg skillfully in the pan. He was frying it to a perfect golden brown on both sides.
Maybe her gaze was too intense, because Shaun turned around and caught her staring. Their eyes met.
He smiled. “Morning.”
She stepped into the kitchen. “Cooking this early?”
Shaun reached out and gave her a playful pinch on the nose. “I can’t let you and our son go hungry.”
Halsey placed a hand on her rounded belly. “And how are you so sure it’s a boy? I get it-you’re one of those who favor sons over daughters!”
Shaun pulled her into his arms. “Favor sons over daughters? Please. My mom had me and Maddy. No one in our family thinks like that. A child is a child-boy or girl, it’s all the same.”
Of course, Halsey knew he didn’t have that kind of mindset. He spoiled Madeline all the time.
“Then how come you’re so convinced it’s a boy?”
“Just a gut feeling!” Shaun grinned. “I really think it’s a boy.”
Halsey chuckled. Truth was, she had no idea whether it was a boy or a girl either. But Shaun spent time talking to the baby whenever he had a chance, so maybe his instinct would turn out right.
Boy or girl, it didn’t matter.
Shaun leaned down and kissed her cheek. “Hungry?”
Now that he mentioned it, she realized she actually was, so she nodded. “Yeah.”
“Go sit. Breakfast is ready.”
Halsey took a seat at the dining table. Shaun brought over a plate of fried eggs and spaghetti bolognese. He handed her a set of utensils.
“Try it. See if it’s any good.”
She took a bite, and her eyes lit up. “It’s delicious!”
Shaun’s cooking, had always been good, but it just kept getting better. Every time she tasted it, a pleasant surprise greeted her.
Then, he set a warm glass of milk next to her. “Drink your milk.”

Halsey pouted. “Can I skip the milk?”
“Nope,” Shaun said firmly.
“But I really don’t want to.”
Shaun took a sip himself, then leaned in, gently cupping the back of her head, and kissed her.
Caught off guard, Halsey felt the milk pour into her mouth-he was literally feeding it to her!
She pushed him away. “What are you doing?”
He raised a brow. “Didn’t you say you didn’t want to drink it? I’m just helping. Want me to keep helping?”
Halsey snatched the glass from him and took a sip on her own. “No need. I’ll drink it myself.”
Shaun smiled, then leaned in again and kissed her.
This time, it wasn’t about milk. It was a real kiss-slow, deep, and lingering. As his lips moved against hers, Halsey felt like that milk had been sweetened with honey.
When the long kiss finally ended, her cheeks were flushed bright red.
That breakfast was way too sweet.
