But Shaun didn’t loosen his grip. Instead, he pulled her even closer. “I’m not letting go.”
Halsey raised her hand to push him away. “What are you doing? Elise is watching. Let me go!”
Shaun held firm. “I said, I’m not letting go.”
Elise stood by the door, speechless. Her face was full of questions.
What the hell? Had she become just a part of Shaun and Halsey’s little game? Was she unnecessary?
She figured she should just leave, and said again, “Mr. Lane, you called me here.”
Shaun slowly lifted his eyelids and looked at Elise. “You’re wearing a diamond bracelet, right?”
Elise’s expression changed immediately. She instinctively moved her wrist, trying to hide the bracelet.
But Shaun had already seen it. He sneered, “Did you tell others that I bought you that bracelet?”
Elise stammered, “Maybe there’s been some misunderstanding. I-”
“There’s no misunderstanding,” Halsey cut in. “Didn’t you show it off in front of me? That happened today. Have you already forgotten?”
Elise fell silent.
Shaun looked at Elise. “Did you do that? Did I really buy you that bracelet?”
Elise didn’t know what to say.
Halsey finally figured it out. Her clear eyes fixed on Shaun’s handsome face. “So the bracelet wasn’t from you? She was lying?”
“What do you think? Can’t you tell? I never bought her any bracelets. This has nothing to do with me,” Shaun said.
Halsey frowned at Elise. “How could you deceive me? I never expected you to have so little shame, lying about Shaun buying you
that bracelet.”
Elise’s face went pale. “I-”
“I hired you to be my secretary, not to spread rumors. What you did seriously damages my reputation. Expect a lawyer’s letter tomorrow,” Shaun said coldly and mercilessly.
Elise panicked. “No, please don’t send me a lawyer’s letter! Please don’t sue me!”
“Then why don’t you just tell the truth?” Shaun asked.
“I’ll tell you! I’ll tell you! Ms. Mallin, Mr. Lane didn’t buy me this diamond bracelet. I bought it myself! It’s fake-cost me only
20 bucks!”

“Do you think there’ll be a next time?” Shaun said coldly. “You’re fired. Don’t bother coming to work tomorrow.”
