Shaun looked back at Elise. “Do you know how to drive?”
Elise nodded. “I do.”
She had long planned to marry into a wealthy family, and driving was a basic skill she had learned long ago. There was no way she didn’t know how.
Shaun tossed the car keys to her. “You drive.”
Elise smiled. “Okay.”
Halsey stepped outside, and saw Shaun and Elise already in the luxury car. Elise was behind the wheel, and Shaun, who had been drinking, sat in the passenger seat.
Soon, Elise stepped on the gas pedal, and the car sped away.
They left together.
Halsey stood there for a long time, watching the car disappear until her eyes started to sting.
Just then, Gilbert came out. “They’re long gone. What are you still looking at?”
Halsey snapped back to reality. “That’s none of your business.”
Wendy appeared as well. “Let’s go home.”
Halsey nodded. “Okay.”
They left together.
Gilbert watched Halsey go, a determined smile playing on his lips.
Half an hour later, Halsey returned to the villa. As she walked inside, a maid greeted her politely, “Welcome back, Ms. Mallin.”
Shaun had arranged for her to stay there to rest during her pregnancy, providing her with a cook, a maid, a nanny, and a nutritionist-everyone there to take care of her.
“I made you some bone broth. Please have a little,” the maid said.
Halsey shook her head. “I don’t feel like it. I’m going to take a bath first.”
The maid started running the water.
Halsey took off her clothes and sank into the warm bath. The fatigue in her body eased a bit, but her mind was full of Shaun and Elise. She couldn’t help but wonder what they were doing right now.
Because of her pregnancy, Halsey didn’t stay in the bath long. After she got up and dried herself with the towel, she suddenly realized that she hadn’t grabbed her pajamas.

She had been so distracted today that she forgot even that.
The maid was outside, and Halsey didn’t want to call her in. She wrapped the towel around herself, opened the bathroom door, and stepped into her room.
The pajamas were laid out on the bed.
Halsey dropped the towel and was about to put on her pajamas when she suddenly heard the maid’s voice from outside. “Hello, Mr. Lane,”

Halsey froze. Was Shaun here?
The next moment, there was a sharp sound as the door swung open, and someone appeared in the doorway.
Halsey turned and saw Shaun standing there, tall and handsome.
He really was back.
Their eyes met, and Halsey’s mind went completely blank.
Shaun froze at the door as well. His gaze fell on her, scanning her from head to toe.

Halsey quickly put on her pajamas. She touched her face-it was burning hot like molten lava. She never expected Shaun to come back right then. The whole thing had been so awkward; she wished she could disappear.
A few minutes later, the maid’s voice came from outside. “Mr. Lane, why aren’t you coming inside? Why are you still standing there?”
Shaun was still standing outside.
Then, there was a knock on the door-Shaun was knocking.
