“Give birth to the baby and hand it over to me. I’ll be a good father and raise the child myself. You can name your conditions- anything you want. As long as you help me bring this baby into the world, I’ll agree to it.”
Halsey hadn’t expected Shaun to back down this far for the baby. She realized he truly loved this child deeply.
Yet, he misunderstood her.
And right now, she had no evidence to prove her innocence. With Gilbert and Chelsea lurking like predators, she couldn’t afford to make a wrong move. She had to play along-for now.
Halsey nodded. “Alright. I’ll carry the baby to term.”
Shaun was overjoyed. The baby was inside her. If she didn’t want to keep it, there were countless ways she could hurt it. But now, she had said yes. That alone made him unbelievably happy.
“What are your conditions?” Shaun asked.
“We break up. From now on, don’t bother me again,” Halsey replied coldly.
Shaun froze.
Halsey pushed him away. “You’re seriously annoying. Stop chasing after me. We’re done.”
The redness in Shaun’s eyes deepened. He clenched his fists tightly, lips pressed into a thin line. After a few seconds, he finally loosened his grip and let out a slow breath. “Alright. We’ll break up.”
Halsey felt her heart ache.
“It’s over between us now, but if anything happens to my child, I won’t let you off the hook. And Lincoln Enterprise will go down with you. Don’t test my bottom line,” Shaun added.
He was threatening her.
Halsey nodded. “Don’t worry. I’ll take good care of the baby.”
“I’m going to check in on the baby every day,” Shaun stated.
Halsey flinched slightly. “The baby’s not even born yet. How are you going to check?”
Shaun placed his hand gently on her flat belly. “I’ll come every day to make sure the baby’s safe.”
His warm hand rested over her stomach, spreading a soft, steady heat. Halsey nodded. “Okay.”
“You’ll stay here at my villa during the pregnancy,” Shaun said.

Halsey instinctively wanted to refuse. “I-”
Shaun quickly cut in, “Relax. I won’t be around much. I’ll stay at the office.”
Halsey had no choice but to agree. “Alright.”
Shaun slowly withdrew his hand. “Get some rest. I’m heading out.”
Then he turned and left the room.
Out on the villa’s front lawn, Shaun spotted someone waiting-it was Chelsea.

She had rushed over eagerly,
Halsey stood by the floor-to-ceiling window upstairs, quietly watching Chelsea approach Shaun with her usual eagerness.
Chelsea wasted no time getting to the point, “Shaun, I heard Ms. Mallin went to the hospital today. Is she pregnant?”
Shaun walked toward his car, keys in hand. He didn’t look at her, didn’t say a word.
Still desperate for answers, Chelsea followed close behind. “Why did Ms. Mallin go to the hospital? Was she trying to get rid of the baby?”
Then, she twisted the knife a little more,
“How could she be so heartless? That baby is a life! Why would she do something like that?”
Shaun stood tall beside his luxury car. “Don’t bring her up again. We’ve already broken up.”
What?
Chelsea could hardly contain the joy bubbling inside her. Her lips curled into a quiet smile.
It worked! Her plan to drive a wedge between them had succeeded.
Shaun and Halsey had fallen out because of the baby.
