Chapter 927
Shaun smirked at Halsey. “Are you sure I tortured you last night? Want me to help jog your memory?”
Halsey opened her mouth. “I-”
Shaun didn’t wait. “Last night, a certain someone wouldn’t even let me touch her without a complaint. That someone told me to be gentle and change my position, and she also said she couldn’t go again. Sound familiar?”
Halsey immediately slapped a hand over his mouth, stopping him mid-sentence. Did he have no shame?
“Quit acting innocent!”
He raised an eyebrow. “What do you mean by that?”
“I did protest last night, but did it stop you? You didn’t listen to a word I said!”
Shaun gulped as he reached out and gently pinched her chin, making her look up. “If you ever piss me off again, I swear I’ll keep you in bed so long you won’t be able to walk. Got it?”
Halsey’s eyes widened. She didn’t respond.
He stared at her a moment longer, then added, “You say your protests didn’t work, but if it weren’t for them, do you really think I would’ve gone easy on you? I would’ve worn you out.”
Shaun really had planned to wear her out-but the moment he saw her crying, looking all pitiful, he couldn’t bear to go through with it. He ended up going gentle on her instead, against his original plan to get even.
Honestly, he had been dripping with sweat by the end of it, so caught up in her that he nearly forgot this was supposed to be revenge.
“Don’t get any funny ideas,” Halsey said quickly.
Shaun took her hand and placed a kiss on it. “Then behave yourself, and I won’t.”
She yanked her hand back out of reflex.
Shaun looked at her. “Are you hungry?”
It was already six-dinnertime.
Halsey didn’t feel like eating much, but she was starting to get hungry. That was the annoying part of pregnancy-she would feel starved, but couldn’t eat much.
She nodded. “Yeah.”
“Come on. Let’s go eat.”
Was he going to take her to dinner?
Halsey was about to speak, but Shaun didn’t give her a chance to argue. He stood up, grabbed her hand, and led her out. Half an hour later, the two of them arrived at a restaurant.
The manager greeted them warmly at the entrance. “Mr. Lane, welcome! Right this way.”
The manager guided them in.
Shaun never let go of Halsey’s hand. Her soft, slender fingers were wrapped securely in his.
They were led to a window-side table.

The manager asked, “Mr. Lane, is this table to your liking? It’s a different spot from yesterday.”
“Yesterday?” Halsey turned to the manager. “Mr. Lane was here last night?”
The manager nodded. “Yes, Mr. Lane made a dinner reservation yesterday.”
Halsey suddenly remembered. Last night, he had a date with Geneva. So this was the place he brought her?
He brought Geneva here, and now he was bringing her to the same place? What was that supposed to mean?
The manager smiled. “But Mr. Lane didn’t end up dining here last night.”
Halsey blinked. “Why not?”
“Because the lady who showed up wasn’t the one Mr. Lane was waiting for. He was furious the moment he saw her.”
Wait, what? Wasn’t he supposed to be meeting Geneva last night?
Halsey glanced over at Shaun, who was quietly looking through the menu, not reacting to anything being said.
“Then who was Mr. Lane really waiting for?” she asked.
The manager looked at her with a smile. “Do you really not know? Mr. Lane brought you here today. The person he was waiting for all along was you.”
