The moment Shaun called her “a little wildcat”, Halsey had already gone stiff.

She gasped, staring at him in disbelief. Did he even hear himself?

Madeline said to Shaun, “Hurry up and make breakfast. We’re starving.”
Shaun set down his glass. “Alright, I’ll go make something.”
He headed into the kitchen.
Halsey glanced awkwardly at Madeline. “I’m going back to the room for a bit.”
Madeline nodded. “Okay.”
Halsey returned to the room and went straight to the bathroom. She turned on the shower and stepped under the warm water.
As it poured over her head and down her back, the soreness in her body started to ease a little. Still, her pale skin was covered in red marks-little hickeys Shaun had left all over her last night.
It felt intentional, like he had wanted to leave his mark on her. A lot of them. Her skin was naturally delicate, so they wouldn’t fade anytime soon.
She made a mental note to cover up with clothes later. If Madeline saw them, she would definitely get suspicious.
Halsey closed her eyes, but her mind couldn’t stop drifting to Shaun. That striking face of his, hovering above her last night, sweat sliding down his sharp features, his arms on either side of her as his body moved, his muscular back full of power… It was like something straight out of a dream.
She quickly shook her head.
What was she doing? She had to stop thinking about him.
Then she felt something trickle down…
Last night, Shaun hadn’t used any protection.
That baby inside her was already his, and now he hadn’t used a condom again.

After showering, Halsey changed into fresh clothes and finally came out of the room. Madeline had just returned from her morning walk, and Shaun had already made breakfast.
“Breakfast’s ready,” Shaun said.
“Great!” Madeline smiled and pulled Halsey over to sit down.
Shaun had made lobster bisque and poured a bowl for each of them.
Madeline looked surprised. “Lobster bisque? What’s the occasion? Why’d you go all out today?”
Shaun sat across from them. “Just thought you two could use something nourishing.”
Madeline chuckled. “I’m already pretty much recovered.”

Halsey looked up at him. “No need. Thanks, Mr. Lane.”
Shaun gave a light smirk. “Even if you didn’t use much strength, it’s still good to have nourishing food.”
Halsey froze. What the hell was he talking about?
Sure enough, Madeline’s interest was piqued. “Wait, Halsey didn’t use much strength? What are you talking about?”
Halsey panicked. “Oh, he means…uh…”
“Halsey and I were discussing human anatomy last night. It was a thorough discussion,” Shaun answered calmly.
Under the table, Halsey quickly lifted her foot and kicked him.
Shaun looked at her, noticing how her face turned crimson as she glared at him fiercely. Her eyes were practically screaming fo

Shaun chuckled.
Madeline frowned in confusion. “Human anatomy? What kind of thorough discussion?”
Halsey rushed to change the subject. “Maddy, let’s eat. Don’t you have research to get to today?”
Madeline had finally recovered and was about to start working again. At the mention of work, she instantly perked up.
Yeah, I do. I’m heading out soon.”
Calsey nodded. “Since you’re feeling better, I should go home too. I’ll visit again when I have time.”
