Halsey wished the ground would just open up and swallow her whole . Why did the family planning section even need a sales assistant ?
And to make things worse , she had no idea what kind she was supposed to get .
“ Uh … Just something simple , ” Halsey mumbled .
The assistant picked up a box . “ Then how about the basic type ? ”
Halsey reached out . “ Sure . ”
But instead of handing it over , the assistant kept going , “ What size does your partner use ? We have small , medium , large , and extra – large . ”
Halsey froze .
Seriously ? Did she have to ask something so embarrassing ? “ I – I don’t know … ”
“ Where’s your partner ? ”
Halsey turned and pointed . “ Over there . ”
The assistant followed her gaze , and her eyes lit up . “ Wow . He’s hot . ”
Shaun was standing under the bright store lights , dressed in a sleek black suit . He looked tall and sharp , flipping through a book with a calm expression . His long legs and lean frame could’ve easily landed him on the cover of a fashion magazine .
Halsey glanced at him , too .
Yeah , he was hot . There was no denying it .
Back when he was just a broke nobody named Dwight , girls from wealthy families still chased after him like crazy .
He looked amazing in a suit – clean , refined , and irresistible .
The assistant giggled . “ I think he’s probably an extra – large . ”
Halsey was speechless . She couldn’t even tell . How could this woman know just by looking ?
The assistant handed her a small box . “ Is one enough ? ”
Halsey bit her lower lip . “ Better grab a few more . ”
“ Alright , let’s make it three boxes . ”
“ Thanks . ”
Halsey took the three boxes and rushed back to Shaun’s side . “ Got them . ”
Shaun looked down at her and gently pinched her cheek . “ Why’s your face so red ? ”
Halsey caught her reflection in one of the mirrors and nearly jumped . Her face was bright red , like a ripe tomato .
“ Must be the heat , ” she muttered . “ Let’s go check out . ”
Shaun laughed . “ What’s the hurry ? ”
Halsey couldn’t believe he would ask that .
She wanted to claw that smirk off his face . He just loved teasing her !
At the checkout , she quickly placed the three boxes on the counter ‘ We’re ready . ”

Unlike Halsey’s flustered state , Shaun was perfectly relaxed . He slipped an arm around her waist and leaned down to whisper with a grin , “ Three boxes , huh ? ”
Halsey immediately regretted it . She felt like she must’ve had a stroke when she made that decisioni .
Why three boxes ? Why ?
Shaun chuckled . “ Let’s try and use them all tonight . ”
She shot him a death glare . How she wished she could just silence him right there and then !
The cashier said , “ That’ll be 20 bucks . ”
Shaun nodded . “ Alright . ”
After he paid , Shaun grabbed the bag in one hand and gently took Halsey’s hand in the other as they left the store and walked back to the car .
Halsey reached for the passenger door , but Shaun had already opened the back . “ Get in the back seat . ”
He wanted her in the back ?
With her head down , Halsey obediently climbed in .
Shaun closed the door behind her , then returned to the driver’s seat and pulled away from the store.
Halsey didn’t know where he was going , but it seemed like they were heading somewhere more and more remote . Finally , the car rolled to a stop . Shaun got out and walked around to the back seat .
She could hear the pounding of her heartbeat , loud and fast .
Even after three years , Shaun still made her heart race like crazy .
