Halsey pulled out a voice recorder from her pocket and looked straight at Gilbert and Chelsea.
“I recorded our entire conversation just now. This is evidence of your crimes. With both physical proof and a witness, you’ll be spending the rest of your lives behind bars. Don’t even think about getting out!”
Gilbert and Chelsea gasped. They hadn’t seen this coming-it was all part of Halsey’s plan, and she had even recorded it.
“Give me that recorder!” Chelsea tried to snatch it away.
But Halsey handed it directly to one of the officers. “Here you go, officer.”
“Got it.” The officer nodded, taking the recorder. Then, he turned to Gilbert and Chelsea. “You have the right to remain silent. We’ll see you in court.”
Chelsea’s face twisted with anger as she growled at Halsey, “I really underestimated you! I can’t believe I actually lost to you!”
“I told you a long time ago-Shaun was never yours,” Halsey said calmly. “You kept coveting something that never belonged to you. Now it’s time to pay the price.”
Gilbert began to struggle. He tried to break free from the officers and charge at Halsey.
“I’ll kill you!”
However, Shaun stepped forward and punched Gilbert straight in the face.
“Three years ago, you threw acid on me and ruined my face. Then, you drove me and my car off a cliff. You framed Halsey, trying to break us apart!” Shaun hissed coldly.
Blood trickled from the corner of Gilbert’s mouth. “Yeah, it was me! You’re just a poor nobody. How could you ever compete with me? Why should you get the spotlight? Why should Halsey love you? You’re a nobody!”
Shaun sneered. “You think I’m a nobody, but you can’t take me down. So you turned to crime. Well, just wait-my legal team will make sure you never get out of prison.”
At the side, Chelsea cried, “I really love you! You can’t do this to me!”
Before Shaun could respond, Warren stepped in sharply. “How dare you talk about love! Your so-called love is selfish, controlling, and destructive. Your love is terrifying.”
Chelsea turned to Shaun again. “I was the one who stayed by your side these past three years! Have you forgotten that? Don’t send me to prison. Please, just give me one more chance-for the sake of everything we’ve been through.”.
Halsey glanced at Shaun, unsure of what he would do.
But Shaun only gave a cold smile. “I told you from the start-I only ever saw you as a friend. I never gave you any hope. Everyone knows I love Halsey.”
Those words made Halsey’s heart skip a beat.
Right then, Shaun gently took Halsey’s hand, her soft fingers trembling as he wrapped them tightly in his own. He stared at
Chelsea.
“I’ve told you-Halsey and the baby she’s carrying are my bottom line. No one touches them. Last time, you forced Halsey onto an operating table. This time, you kidnapped her. I’m officially done with you. Good luck spending the rest of your life in prison.”
Chelsea went pale. She didn’t want to go to jail! She still had her whole life ahead of her. She didn’t want it all to end here.
People never fear doing bad things-but when the time to face the consequences comes, they finally panic.
Seeing that Shaun wasn’t moved, Chelsea turned to Warren in desperation. “Are you not going to help me, either?”
