Third Person POV
Leon managed just a few words before falling back asleep from exhaustion.

“My brother…” Mateo turned quickly to Aubrey. She was already crouched beside Leon, checking his condition carefully.
A moment later, her expression cased. “He’s fine.”
She straightened up and added calmly, “And as for your brother’s illness? For me, it’s nothing serious. He’ll be fully recovered within six months. Running, jumping, no different from any other healthy werewolf.”
Mateo’s eyes widened in disbelief. The congenital condition that had baffled the best healers in the pack- and this Omega said she could cure it in six months?
His throat moved, voice hoarse. “Really?”
“You’ll see for yourself soon enough,” Aubrey replied with a half–smile. Then she turned to Shane, who was still pinned to the ground by the guards. Her voice was chillingly calm. “This bastard tampered with the medicine to try and kill someone through my hands. Clearly, I was the target. So… am I allowed to retaliate?”
She said it so matter–of–factly, with zero emotion in her voice, like it was the most natural thing in the world.
Mateo, guilt–ridden for having wrongly accused her, nodded without hesitation.

Aubrey’s POV
The look of sheer terror on Shane’s face made me laugh coldly.
In both my lives, I had never hurt him. But he betrayed me over and over again for his own gain. If that’s how he wanted to play–then he could suffer the consequences.
I popped open the magazine of my pistol, emptied all but one silver bullet, then calmly placed the remaining bullets across the back of Shane’s hand as he lay face–down, pinned by four werewolf guards under Mateo’s orders. I could smell the stench of his fear.
“I don’t care who ordered you,” I said, placing the toe of my boot atop the bullets, feeling the shape of bone beneath. “All I know is that from the very first meeting, you were plotting to kill me. If Mateo had torn my throat out earlier, I bet you would’ve been thrilled, wouldn’t you?”
As I spoke, I pressed my heel down–hard.
Shane gasped from the pain, screaming, “No! That wasn’t my idea! It was… it was Bailey! She’s the one who wanted you dead!”
The moment I heard Bailey’s name, I couldn’t help but laugh.
Then I leaned in, shifting my weight. After awakening Ella, my physical strength had reached a whole new

level .
“ Bailey.. huh?”
With each word, I pressed down harder with the tip of my boot. The crunch of bones followed–snap , snap

“Ahhh! My hand! You’re breaking my hand!”
Shane let out a shrill scream, writhing under me.
“Please! I was only following orders! Bailey’s the one who really wants you dead!”
I didn’t respond. I didn’t stop. And finally, with one last brutal grind, the scream caught in his throat and stopped altogether.
Blood stained the ground. His hand was a mangled, bloody mess. The silver embedded in his skin kept his regenerative abilities from working.
I’d seen this scene before.
In my past life, I’d been pinned just like this–helpless–watching my own hand crushed, inch by inch. I remembered that agony as if it had happened yesterday.
“Tell me, Shane…” I murmured, more to myself than to him, “Can you feel my pain now?”
He looked up at me with pure horror in his eyes–like I wasn’t even human.
“You… how do you know my name? I never told you!”
That finally made me show a hint of mercy. I lifted my boot and looked him right in the eyes. coldly.
“Because I’m the ghost that crawled out of hell… to get my revenge.”
