Maggie didn’t feel like engaging in small talk with him.
She simply said, “It’s the weekend tomorrow, so we’ll go on Monday.”
Franklin’s tone sounded somewhat helpless. “But we can’t. Grandma loves you too much and worries I’ll mistreat you.
When she found out we were getting divorced, she insisted I sign an agreement stating that if we don’t inform her about changes to the divorce agreement, she’ll have the right to confiscate more than half of my assets.”
Maggie stopped in her tracks. “When did this happen?”
“During the New Year,” he replied.
Maggie frowned, “Why didn’t you tell me earlier?”
He laughed. “I didn’t expect you to want to change the agreement.”
