Maggie, Franklin, and the others left the hospital together.
Once in the elevator, Franklin asked, “Did you drive here yourself?”
“Yes,” Maggie answered.
Franklin didn’t say anything else, but Isabella, who had been quiet, suddenly remembered something and asked, “Mom, are you not going home tonight?”
Maggie replied, “I’ll be taking Grandma back home, and I’m staying over at her place, so I won’t be going
“I want to stay at Grandma’s house too!” Isabella quickly said.
Although Isabella was closer to Franklin now, to Old Madam Miller, Isabella would always be Maggie’s daughter.
Before Maggie could answer, Old Madam Miller smiled gently and said, “Alright, alright.”
Seeing how Old Madam Miller was speaking, Maggie didn’t feel like refusing, but she still reminded Isabella, “You don’t have any change of clothes at Grandma’s house.”
Before Isabella had left for overseas with Franklin, she used to visit Maggie’s family frequently. Back then, half of the wardrobe in Maggie’s room was filled with clothes that she and her Aunt Helen had prepared for Isabella.
But since Isabella hadn’t been back to Maggie’s place as much over the past two years, and she had grown so quickly, Maggie and Aunt Helen hadn’t bought her new clothes as often. Now, there were no suitable clothes for her at Miller’s house.

Just then, Franklin spoke up. “I’ll call and have someone deliver some clothes over.”
Maggie paused for a moment but didn’t say anything else.
Isabella, however, was overjoyed. “Yay! I can sleep with you tonight, Mom!”
After leaving the hospital, Isabella happily followed Maggie into the car, while Franklin walked to his own car to hand Isabella’s backpack to her.
Isabella took the bag with a bright smile. “Thanks, Dad!”
Franklin ruffled her hair, glanced at the driver’s seat where Maggie was, but Maggie didn’t look back. She
told Isabella, “Say goodbye to Dad.”
“Goodbye, Dad!”
“Goodbye,” Franklin responded.
After exchanging goodbyes, Maggie rolled up the car window, turned the steering wheel, and drove away.
When they arrived at Miller’s house, Isabella’s clothes had already been delivered.
As Isabella ran upstairs, Old Madam Miller looked at Maggie and said, “He hasn’t restricted your closeness with Isabella. That’s still a good thing.”
She had been worried that since the custody of the child was with Franklin, he might prevent Maggie from seeing her daughter. If that were the case, over time, their bond would likely fade, which would be very cruel to a mother.
Maggie didn’t feel the need to explain anything further. She simply replied with a “Hmm” and told Old Madam Miller to rest early before going upstairs herself.
The Next Morning
The Miller family and Isabella were downstairs having breakfast when the security office called, informing them of a visitor.
Maggie glanced outside and noticed it was Franklin’s car.
Isabella immediately came over to see him and excitedly said, “Oh, it’s Dad! Mom, let him in!”
