Chapter 19 As soon as her hair was dry , Isabella announced she wanted to go to sleep .
Maggie noticed her eyes fixed on her phone , knowing she still wanted to play with it .
She said , ” You can look at it for a while , but then you need to sleep , okay ? know .
Since mommy was free tomorrow , she needed to let Auntie Julie know about this .
Isabella worried about how to tell Julia without hurting her feelings or making her sad , and kept pondering over the best way to break the news .
Already feeling troubled , she grew even more impatient with Maggies nagging and pushed her toward the door .
” Mom , please go .
Ill turn off my phone and go to sleep by nine thirty .
Isabella was indeed self disciplined about this .
Hearing this , Maggie bid her goodnight and left the room .
Isabella immediately closed the door and locked it .
Maggie had barely taken a step when she heard the sound of Isabella locking the door .
She knew Isabella wasnt trying to keep others out .
She was only trying to keep her out .
She probably locked the door because she wanted to discuss something with Julia .
And that was exactly the case .
As soon as Isabella locked the door , she rushed back to open her phone and found Julies text message : [ Auntie Julie … ] What they discussed , Maggie had no way of knowing .
She didnt dwell on it , nor did she care to .
Chapter 19 She turned and went back to her room .
The elderly lady liked her and often invited her back for meals .
Over the years , she had left quite a few daily necessities here .
She found a set of pajamas and went into the bathroom to take a shower .
After her shower , she sat down on her usual side of the bed .
Seeing it was still early , she took out the bk she had placed in her bag earlier and began reading quietly .
She lost track of time until her eyes started hurting .
Closing the book , she checked the time and realized it was already cleven thirty .
But Franklin still hadnt returned .
Actually , even though Franklin had initially believed she had schemed against him , by their third year of marriage , while he still wasnt particularly close to her , their relationship had improved compared to before .
But then , shortly after that , Julia appeared .
He fell in love with Julia and began distancing himself from her again .
After that , he barely touched her at all .
So , she wasnt sure if Franklins late return meant he wasnt planning to come back to the room at all or if he was just busy with something .
Lost in these thoughts , Maggie unconsciously left the bedroom and went downstairs .
Just then , a voice came from nearby .
” Everyones asleep .
Is it because Maggies there that you dont want to go back to the room this late ? It was Marias voice .
Maggie looked toward the source of the sound .
It was Maria and Franklin .

Franklin was smoking , not responding .
From this distance , and with him backlit , Maggie couldnt make out his expression .
Maria , ” Actually , I understand you .
Ive met Julia a few times .
I heard shes only 25 and has already earned a doctorate from a top global university .
seems to handle family business matters well too .
Shes beautiful , with a wild and untameable spiri her excellence and radiance are qualities that most women dont possess .
She certainly has what it takes to attract you .
But her background isnt prestigious enough .
Frank , have you thought this through ? You .
Franklin , ” I know what kind of woman I want .
” But Maria frowned .
While she looked down on Maggie , she didnt approve of Julia either .
She wanted to say more , but seeing the displeasure in Franklins eyes , she gave up , ” Youre so protective of her , wont even let me say a word .
Fine , Ill stop talking , okay ? Maggie listened , her hands clenched , her cheeks stinging from the night wind .
She gave a bitter smile and lost interest in listening further , turning to leave .
Just as she left , Maria remembered something , ” Oh right , I heard Maggie submitted her resignation and is planning to leave the company ? Franklin , ” The day before yesterday , Chad said she made a mistake .
He was quite angry , so I told him to follow company procedures and terminate her .
Maria sneered , ” So thats what happened .
When she mentioned this earlier , she made it sound like she resigned on her own .
I thought … with her clingy nature , always sticking to you like glue , how could she willingly resign ? So she was actually fired , haha .
Franklin didnt respond , as if the matter had nothing to do with him .
As Maggie reached the second floor and was about to return to her room , she almost collided with Mr.

They both startled After recovering , York apologized first and asked with concern .
” Sister in law , are you alright ? Among the Wilson family , besides the elderly lady , York was the only one who treated her well .
Maggie shook her head and smiled slightly , ” Im fine .
When Maggie married Franklin , York was still young and didnt understand many things clearly .
