Chapter 466
“Kill him!” One of the warriors of the Howling Wolf pack shouted when he saw Redmond approaching them. “He is the warrior from the Blue Moon pack!”
All the warriors around, who heard that, immediately rushed toward Redmond with the intention to kill him. Ethan must have not thought about this kind of reaction from his fellow warriors when he sent Redmond alone to meet Jace at the entrance gates, as his mind was occupied with a lot of things.
But, fortunately, Jace was nearby and he stopped his warriors before they could shred Redmond into pieces.
“Step back!” Jace roared to stop them from shifting into their beasts and fighting Redmond. Five warriors continued seething, but the others immediately backed off. “I command you to step back!” Jace was enraged when his warriors didn’t listen to his order.
The said five warriors gritted their teeth, as if they were about to argue, but when they saw Jace’s expression, they quickly lowered their heads and stepped back.
Redmond threw them a nasty look. He would gladly fight them all, but right now, he had no time to prolong this offense, as he was so infuriated by the fact Lyle had backstabbed him by mobilizing the warriors from the Blue Moon pack without his permission.
How long had he been planning all of this for?
“Ethan sent you here?” Jace asked Redmond. The two of them couldn’t be said to be close, but they were on amicable terms with each other, especially when Redmond knew a lot about Cane’s plans and his secrets, almost as much as Jace and Ethan did.
There was even a point of time, when Jace saw him as one of them, but he was not sure where Redmond was standing in this situation. After all, out there, those people, who would gladly ransack the Howling Wolf pack, were the very people, who he grew up with.
“Where are those ungrateful people?!” Redmond took long strides to approach Jace, he was fuming. It was a humiliation for him as the leader of the warriors for not being able to control his own men.
They were at the entrance gates, which served as a fortress for the Howling Wolf pack and if you went up, you would be able to see a few hundred beasts from its vantage point, led by no other than Lyle.
“What are you going to do with them?”
“I am going to kill them all!”
After forcing Will to agree to carry the news to the Riverside pack, Ethan went to the orphanage again to meet with Aliana and Haco.
Aliana had gathered around fifteen young warriors, as they were tasked to help people to safety if the enemy managed to knock down their stronghold. One of these young warriors was Joel.
Ethan was familiar with him, as Joel trained under his command, so he gave him a few tasks and some things to be prepared for them to enter the mountains, as he talked with Haco and Aliana.
“What the hell had happened last night during the dinner party?!” Ethan looked agitated, he couldn’t keep his cool. “Damn it, Haco! You put the Alpha in danger! Why didn’t you warn us if you know something is off with Lady Cyan?!”
“Damn it, I can’t!” Haco barked back. He looked exhausted. His eyes sunk, as if he had not yet slept for weeks. “I didn’t tell you not because I didn’t want to! But, because I can’t! Shit!” He kept cursing under his breath, he looked so erratic.
“What do you mean you can’t!? Cat got your tongue?!” Ethan was so upset, he could talk so clearly and loudly right now and he was telling him, he couldn’t warn them?! What kind of nonsense was he trying to spit out?
Haco looked frustrated, while Aliana said nothing and followed their argument closely.
“That woman is a mind controller, damn it!”
Haco had never met a mind controller and if he had any doubt before about the symbol that they found in the Riverside pack, which was the symbol of Decratic, he was sure now that Lady Cyan was one of his worshippers.
Decratic was known as a mind controller and his loyal worshipers also possessed the same ability.
Seeing the situation was already out of control, it was not even an option to think of a plot and whatnot. There would be no plot if they died.
Cane grabbed Iris’ hand and mouthed to her. ’Move fast and hold tight.’
Iris saw that and nodded.
If Lady Cyan made the first move to kill Sir Elijah, it meant, their chances of getting out of this situation alive was close to none.
Meanwhile, the King and the royal warriors weirdly did not have a decent reaction. They watched the whole thing happen, but they didn’t have any response.
“With the cue from the Alpha, clear the way,” Oliver said in a low voice. It was hard for them to communicate once they turned into their beasts, since the mindlink between them had been severed, but they had been training to overcome their shortcomings.
However, Lady Cyan looked at them emotionlessly, as she dismounted her horse and took two steps closer to them.
“Hand her over and maybe, I will spare you,” Lady Cyan said, as she looked at Alpha Dristan. She used too much of her power on the royal warriors and the King, she couldn’t afford to control one more person, more so, she needed to save up her energy.
She had not yet reached the main goal why she took this extreme step at the risk of exposing her own power.
On the other hand, Alpha Dristan actually contemplated doing so, as he glanced at Iris and calculated how fast he could grab her. He did that out of instinct, but his subtle glance and what he was thinking right now didn’t go unnoticed by Cane.
And when Alpha Dristan caught his eyes, he couldn’t help stuttering. “Al- alpha Cane… I… no, I am not thinking about that…”
But, before Alpha Dristan could explain himself, they could hear Iris screaming in pain.
