With that, his expression hardened, and he pressed the button without hesitation.
Immediately, a rumbling noise echoed from underground.
Aubrey’s eyes widened in shock as she realized what was happening. “Stop! What are you doing? Isn’t this your grandfather’s legacy?”
Alpha Henry didn’t answer. He just walked behind Aubrey, wrapped his arms around her, and made her face the direction of the research institute.
“Nothing is more important than you. Even if it’s something I poured my heart into creating–if you hate it, then it should cease to exist.”
As soon as he finished speaking, a deafening explosion erupted from inside the institute.
One after another, the blasts ignited within. The enormous, icy marble exterior remained unscathed at first, but it slowly caved inward, collapsing from the inside out.
“You…” Aubrey’s heartbeat quickened, “You activated the self–destruct system…”
“Yeah.” Alpha Henry nodded, calm as though it hadn’t been him who had just pressed the button for destruction.
“You… you didn’t have to do this.“/
Aubrey was overwhelmed with shock. In the end, she closed her eyes in pained silence.
But Alpha Henry covered her ears with both hands, leaning close to whisper.

Another thunderous explosion shook the ground. The building, which had only been collapsing in chunks before, suddenly looked as if it had been hollowed out from within. A small mushroom cloud rose into the
air.
It was like the end of the world. The structure caved in on a massive scale, the detonations booming endlessly. Dust shot skyward, fire flaring within, and under the blazing clouds on the horizon, the scene looked apocalyptic.
Alpha Henry had really destroyed it all–for her.
Aubrey stood frozen, watching the place that had once imprisoned her being blown to pieces before her very eyes. She didn’t even know what she was feeling anymore. It was as though something inside her was collapsing along with it. She wanted to keep control, but couldn’t. And then, all of a sudden, she remembered how many sleepless hours Alpha Henry had sacrificed to build this place ….

“Henry… you really didn’t need to do this…”
