Halsey didn’t seem to recognize Alice at all.
Damon leaned over and whispered a few words in his

He said coolly, “Go ahead and ask.”
Only then did he finally look at
Alice pointed to the first design draft and asked, “Mr. Hawkin, you rejected this proposal. Is it because you think our country’s traditional culture doesn’t live up to your aesthetic. standards?”
Her words were anything but polite.
At that moment, Halsey’s face twisted with fury, like a volcano erupting.
If he hadn’t been held back, he probably would’ve slapped Alice right then and there.
Linda immediately stepped in.
“Alice, apologize to Mr. Hawkin now.”
Alice sneered. “Apologize?”
She shot back, “Why should I apologize? Did I say something wrong?”
A cold glint flashed in Halsey’s eyes, his tone thick with reprimand.
“I see no trace of traditional culture in that pattern.”
As Halsey spoke, he seemed to remember that someone of his “respected senior status” shouldn’t be scolding the younger generation.
So in the next moment, he quickly slipped back into his usual cold and composed facade.
“You’re trying to make a name for yourself, or maybe you’re craved fame–I get that. But you’re still young. You still have a long journey ahead of you. Don’t be so eager for quick
success.
The moment he finished speaking, laughter rippled through the room. Clearly, it was meant to mock Alice for being reckless and out of line. “Halsey’s a expert in this. Is she seriously implying that she knows more.

“I know she’s eager to help Mr. Nolan gain a foothold and make a name for himself in Nolant Group. But regardless of what she wants, she should do things the right way.”
“Honestly, what she did was disgusting.”
“That comment just now was borderline insulting to Mr. Hawkin.”
As the room buzzed with criticism, no one knew who had let the reporters in.
They immediately began taking photos, pointing their cameras straight at Alice.
Linda’s eyes filled with tears as she turned to the reporters.
“Please don’t twist things. My sister didn’t mean it.”
Then she began crying, offering no explanation of what happened.
The harder the reporters pushed, the harder she cried.
To those who didn’t understand what happened, it would appear that she’d been wronged and trapped in a situation she couldn’t escape.
Desperate for clarity, the reporters began asking people around them for the full story.
Soon, the cameras and microphones were all directed at Alice.
“Mrs. Nolan, you questioned Mr. Hawkin’s judgment. What evidence do you have?”
“Yes, you
can’t just say whatever you want and defame Mr. Hawkin.”
“If you keep this up, he could sue you. Are you ready to spend the rest of your life in prison?”
The reporters pressed harder with each question, and their tone grew more anxious by the
second.
Alice swept her gaze across the room.
Eventually, her gaze landed on Linda.
That fake bitch just throws out a few words, and suddenly the heat’s all on me.
Meanwhile, she hides behind the crowd, acting like it’s none of her business. Noticing Alice’s sharp gaze, Linda curved her lips into a mocking smile It was as if she were saying, “I know you hate me, but you can’t touch me.”

But the next second, Alice suddenly spoke up, “Linda, you didn’t finish what you were saying earlier.”
Linda had assumed things had reached a conclusion and she could safely watch things unfold from the sidelines.
She never imagined Alice would drag her back into the spotlight.
Startled, she said with wide eyes, “Alice, what are you talking about?”
“The things you just said. What did you mean by that? Alice repeated herself, just in case Linda tried to play dumb.
Linda kept up the act. “Alice, I really don’t know what you are talking about.”
“Fine, let me ask you directly. You think I was wrong and that I slandered Mr. Hawkin, don’t you?”
Linda quickly lowered her head and began to sob .
Her continued sobbing and refusal to answer only made things look more suspicious.
“So you’re staying silent to please both sides?”
Damon immediately jumped in, “Alice, don’t go too far!”
“Well, this is how I roll. First time noticing?”
Alice shot back without hesitation.
Damon’s voice was seething. “Shameless!”
“Oh, and your precious little sister isn’t shameless, is she? Then ask her yourself. Does she think I was wrong? That I slandered Mr. Hawkin?”
Halsey let out a cold snort. “You know exactly what you said. Why make things difficult for Linda?”
Alice smiled pleasantly. “Mr. Hawkin, Linda and I are sisters. We are very close. Maybe she just thinks you were being too harsh.”
Halsey’s face turned green with rage.

If Mr. Hawkin turned out to be right, Linda would appear righteous for choosing principle over family.
If he turned out to be wrong, she could just say, “I didn’t expect Mr. Hawkin to have misunderstood you,” and walk away clean.
Alice sneered. Her fake innocence act really was something
But she wasn’t about to let herself be taken advantage of.
“So, what you’re saying is I’m wrong and Mr. Hawkin is right?”
